Sports Branding

West Midlands Powerlifting is a community celebrating the dedication and achievements of its athletes. Through social media, compelling visuals, and athlete stories, the brand shares training journeys, personal bests, and event highlights. This approach builds engagement, strengthens the online community, and amplifies the sport’s energy and spirit to a wider audience.

Designing banners that showcase strength

For West Midlands Powerlifting, we designed two large-scale banners to be displayed at the Gymshark Lifting Club, creating a bold visual presence behind the athletes during competitions. These banners were carefully designed to reflect the energy, determination, and community spirit of the sport while maintaining a clear and engaging brand identity.

The project involved close collaboration with photographer, whose images helped bring the designs to life and capture the intensity and passion of the lifters. Every element of the banners was created with intention, from layout to typography, ensuring they communicated the brand’s strength and purpose while engaging the audience in the space.

Seeing the banners installed and in action at the event was a proud moment, highlighting the impact of thoughtful design in real-world environments. This project strengthened skills in large-scale design, event branding, and collaborative creative processes, while helping West Midlands Powerlifting leave a memorable impression on participants and spectators alike.

Amy, Photographer

Phoebe was able to utilise Photoshop, Adobe Express and Canva in order to formulate our design concepts and photographs into social media content. We worked particularly closely on a full-scale competition banner, whereby she was able to cut out photos in order to complete a design we had mapped out. She happily took direction with adding other design elements such as chalk, creating a dynamic product overall. We are very happy to see everything come together, and Phoebe was very friendly and amenable throughout the process.
